A Performance Packed Weekend for Youth and Adults!

The Rossland Council for Arts and Culture will be presenting a performance filled weekend October 23 and 24 at the Rossland Miners Hall!

The weekend will kick-off with a TheatreSports Workshop for youth, presented by the Vancouver TheatreSports League. All youth 12-18 are invited and encouraged to attend, no previous theatre experience is necessary; they will get a chance to participate in TheatreSports games and practice the art of Improv, thinking on their feet to adapt to different scenes and scenarios. It promises to be a surprising, fun afternoon full of laughter! The workshop will take place on Friday, October 23 from 1:00pm-3:00pm. The cost of the workshop is $20, which includes entry to the evening performance. Pre-registration is required as there are only 25 spots, and can be done in person at Out of the Cellar in Rossland or online at www.rosslandartscouncil.com/Youth-Initiatives

The Vancouver TheatreSports League will also be presenting an evening Improv performance for the whole community starting at 7:00pm on Friday, October 23. This is a special type of performance where the performers incorporate audience suggestions into their scenes, meaning that every performance is as unique as its audience. “I saw Vancouver TheatreSports League perform at their theatre on Granville Island,” says Tara Kowalchuk, RCAC Executive Administrator. “It was absolutely hilarious! My friends and I were doubled over laughing the entire time! I highly recommend seeing this show.” Tickets for the performance are only $10.

The weekend of arts and culture continues on Saturday, October 24 at 7:30pm with a performance by the John Welsh Band. John Welsh presents laid back, catchy, beachy tunes in the style of Jack Johnson or Ben Harper. This folksy, “surf-rock” performance will put you in mind of sipping sangria in Sayulita and will leave you with your toes tapping and a smile on your face. If you can’t afford a tropical vacation this fall, you can afford a John Welsh ticket, and that’s the next best thing! Tickets are $20 and RCAC members get $2 off.

All workshops and performances take place at the Rossland Miners Hall. Doors open half an hour before showtime. Tickets can be purchased in advance at Out of the Cellar in Rossland, the Charles Bailey Theatre Box Office in Trail, and online at rosslandartscouncil.com.
