The Rossland Miners Hall will play host to some of Canada’s most talented musicians this Friday night as the Rossland Council for Arts and Culture presents the Remi Bolduc Jazz Ensemble.
Virtuoso saxophonist Remi Bolduc is inexhaustible in creating new projects. He has recorded six albums in collaboration with some of the best Jazz musicians in the country. His first tribute album “Tribute to Charlie Parker” won a Felix Award for the best jazz album of 2011. Remi will be presenting his newest project “Tribute to Dave Brubeck” which promises to continue in the vein of his acclaimed collection of works.
In an interview with Peter Hum of the Ottawa Citizen Remi Bolduc said, “I like to have a balance between playing projects of my original music and projects that feature other composers’ music. Doing the Brubeck project, I learned a lot about his music. I transcribed many compositions and it inspired me to write new music.”
Remi Bolduc’s mastery as an improviser, infused with Brubeck’s rhythmic complexities and haunting rhythms ensure this performance will be a fitting tribute to one of the greatest jazz musicians of our time.
Join the Rossland Council for Arts and Culture this Friday night (January 22) at 7:00pm and fall in love with the music of Dave Brubeck all over again!
Tickets are $20 and available at Out of the Cellar in Rossland, the Charles Bailey Theatre Box Office in Trail, and online at rosslandartscouncil.com.
