SUMMARY:Rossland Wood Carving Symposium
DESCRIPTION:Wood Carving Symposium Returns to Rossland September 25–28\, 2025 \nRossland\, BC — The Rossland Council for Arts and Culture (RCAC) is thrilled to announce the return of the Wood Carving Symposium\, taking place from September 25–28\, 2025\, daily from 10am to 4pm in the Sourdough Alley Parking Lot (1952A Columbia Avenue). \nThis year marks the third iteration of the symposium\, a community art event that has become a much-anticipated tradition in Rossland. Past symposiums have brought together internationally acclaimed artists and local audiences\, resulting in stunning public sculptures that now stand as lasting legacies in the community. \nFor 2025\, RCAC is honoured to welcome three renowned artists from Switzerland: \n\n\nMarkus Flück \n\n\nMarcel Eyer \n\n\nFranziska Frutiger \n\n\nOver the course of four days\, these artists will transform massive logs into three new sculptures\, giving the public a rare opportunity to watch their creative process unfold. \nAdding to the experience\, local sculptor Lars Baggenstos will be working on a smaller demonstration project\, offering audiences a closer look at the techniques involved in carving. He will also be available throughout the event to answer questions and share insights into the art form. \n“We hope the community will come by and witness the incredible artistry as these sculptures come to life\,” said [RCAC spokesperson]. “It’s a unique chance to see international artists at work\, right here in Rossland.” \nThe RCAC extends gratitude to the sponsors and supporters who make this event possible: Pfeil Tools\, Woodhouse Construction\, ATCO Wood Products\, City of Rossland\, Rams Head Inn\, BC Arts Council\, and the Province of British Columbia. \nPlease note that during the first day\, there may be some noise disruption as the artists use chainsaws to remove large sections of wood. After this initial stage\, the artists will switch to hand tools\, and the event will be much quieter. \nCome by\, ask questions\, and watch as three extraordinary sculptures take shape before your eyes. \nEvent Details \n\n\nWhat: Rossland Wood Carving Symposium \n\n\nWhen: September 25–28\, 2025\, 10am–4pm daily \n\n\nWhere: Sourdough Alley Parking Lot\, 1952A Columbia Avenue \n\n\nAdmission: Free and open to all
