Licensed.\n\nTICKETS SOLD OUT!!! \nTonye Aganaba is a Black African queer\, disabled and non-binary immigrant and uninvited settler living on the unceded ancestral territories of the Musqueam\, Squamish & Tsleil-Waututh First Nations.  \nThey were born in London\, England – the belly of the beast and the stronghold of imperialism\, colonialism and racial capitalism\, and immigrated to so-called Canada at the age of 13. They proudly trace their ancestral line to the lands known today as Nigeria and Zimbabwe. \nTonye is an interdisciplinary artist and musician – and their style is dynamic and fluid – weaving playful threads of Soul\, Neo-Folk\, Funk\, Hip-Hop and R&B. \nTheir shows\, gatherings\, and workshops are connected and intimate experiences\, and evoke a kind of vulnerability that we all hunger for. They are a steadfast fixture in their local arts community – and a passionate and political being. \nWhen they’re not on stage or in the studio – they’re actively unlearning and re-learning as a community worker and organizer working in solidarity with oppressed peoples and in defense of the planet\, in an effort to decolonize body\, mind\, spirit and space. He’s written 400 original compositions\, four original musicals and arranged two symphonic pops concerts. He’s been nominated for two Jessie and five Ovation Awards and in 2019 was honoured with Nanaimo’s Emerging Cultural Leader Award.  \nHe composes for stage\, screen\, and media\, collaborates with multiple choirs\, plays with several jazz trios and tours in a duo with his mother\, renowned chanteuse Joelle Rabu. Email performance.rcac@gmail.com. \nTragedy Ann is a compassion project from Guelph\, Ontario. \nWhen they write songs together\, Liv Cazzola & Braden Phelan evoke humanizing questions with pump organ\, singing saw (that’s right\, the saw!)\, guitar and accordion. In harmony\, their voices sensitively tread between the impossible fragility of bent porcelain and the nuanced joy of torn fabric\, lovingly mended. Leading with curiosity\, empathy\, and charm\, Cazzola & Phelan share vignettes inside stories inside songs – compelling listeners to consider community in ways that feel both familiar and audaciously forward-looking. \nCazzola and Phelan’s stories about love\, grief\, and justice – strangers\, friends\, and regulars\, can be heard on the ambitious and orchestrally-informed Heirlooms (2022) or their enthusiastic introduction Matches (2018). \nThey assert that music-making is a regenerative practice\, and demonstrate this mentality through ongoing collaborations with artistic peers\, community partners\, and advocacy groups. With this community-forward approach\, Tragedy Ann have been privileged to perform across Canada and internationally in living rooms and backyards\, as well as at such venues as the National Arts Centre\, Celtic Connections Festival (Scotland)\, Haliburton Folk Society\, Clonakilty International Guitar Festival (Ireland)\, Egersund Visefestival (Norway)\, Blue Skies Music Festival\, Hillside Festival\, and once\, a Belgian horse centre.  \n At home\, their musical and personal lives are inevitably married – both literally and figuratively. Cazzola and Phelan are passionate about community-building\, gardening\, and culinary adventure; going so far as to publish a cookbook alongside Heirlooms. DESCRIPTION:Join the RLOP for the gala performance of Murder on the Orient Express!\n\nDress up in your best 1930s inspired outfits and join our cast aboard the renowned train The Orient Express. Your ticket includes dessert and a drink!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFamous detective Hercule Poirot intends to book a first-class compartment on the Orient Express\, run by his friend and colleague\, Monsieur Bouc. The train is surprisingly full of a host of peculiar characters: an aging Russian princess\, her Swedish companion\, a Hungarian countess\, a Minnesota housewife\, a Scottish colonel\, an English governess\, a French conductor\, a disagreeable American businessman\, and his anxious secretary. While aboard the train\, the angry businessman\, Samuel Ratchett\, corners Poirot and demands Poirot to investigate a series of ominous letters that have been sent to Ratchett\, threatening his life. \nAs a snowdrift halts the Orient Express in its tracks\, a murder occurs against all odds in a locked train compartment. Poirot is tasked to solve the murder\, as the killer could still be in their midst. As Poirot investigates\, conflicting clues and convoluted alibis lead him to dead ends. Over the course of 48 hours\, will Poirot be able to solve the case of the Murder on the Orient Express? Join us to find out! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \nDoors open at 6pm. Show starts at 6:30pm. DESCRIPTION:The Rossland Council for Arts and Culture Performance Series presents \nRaine Hamilton String Trio Accompanied by an ASL Interpreter\nSaturday\, April 12th\, 2025\nRossland Miners Hall\n\n \nResonant\, acoustic chamber folk with an otherworldly edge\, and a lyric presence that cuts deep. Prism-clear vocals + strings: Anchored in the ancient mountains\, reaching up beyond the earthly. \nRaine is part prairie songstress\, part storyweaver; Each song has a story\, delivered between songs with humour and grace. Raine invites deep love of the violin into the singer-songwriter genre\, writing for violin and voice\, as well as for guitar and voice. Joined by cello and upright bass\, expect string arrangements that push and pull\, that move as they console. \nA classical violinist and musicologist by training\, Raine and their string trio offer string-quartet-like arrangements of Raine’s original songs. They call this chamber-folk\, a hybrid of the classical tradition of string quartet chamber music\, with the singer songwriter folk that comes so naturally to Raine. \nRaine’s latest work\, the full-length album Brave Land (2021-22)\, is a concept album about mountains\, and the courage\, wisdom\, and otherworldly connection they represent. Here\, as in Raine’s 2018 album Night Sky\, her songs are set to intricate and seasoned arrangements for guitar\, violin\, cello\, and double bass. \nOnce again Raine has worked with string trio collaborators Quintin Bart on double bass\, Natanielle Felicitas on cello\, and Lloyd Peterson as producer/engineer. \n“Raine Hamilton is an artist to keep your eye on. DESCRIPTION:The Rossland Council for Arts and Culture Performance Series presents \nRoyce Rich accompanied by Joseph Stacy\nSaturday\, December 14th \nDoors at 7pm\, Start 7:30pm\nRossland Miners Hall \nWorld renowned violinist\, Royce Rich\, is establishing himself as one of Canada’s up-and-coming concert artists.  In July 2021\, he was listed as one of CBC Music’s “Top 30 Under 30 Hot Musicians” for the release of his self-produced debut Spotify album of show pieces entitled Short Stories. In July 2015\, Royce was awarded the coveted Gabora Prize in Italy at the Casalmaggiore International Festival\, and has since appeared on concert stages as a solo artist and chamber musician across Canada\, the USA\, Italy\, and Germany.  \nHe has performed as guest artist with the Brampton Symphony Orchestra\, Lions Gate Sinfonia Orchestra\, Durham Chamber Orchestra\, Smazal Chamber Orchestra\, and twice with the Vancouver Youth Symphony Orchestra. Throughout the summer of 2023\, Royce was co-concertmaster of the National Academy Orchestra – Canada’s top training orchestra for up-coming professional orchestral musicians.   \nOrchestral playing is one of Royce’s first loves. Throughout 2024\, Royce was invited to assume the position of Principal Second Violinist of the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra in Ontario. Royce has also performed as a violinist with the Kingston Symphony Orchestra\, Prince George Symphony Orchestra\, Vancouver Symphony Orchestra\, the National Academy Orchestra\, and The Royal Conservatory Orchestra.  \nSpecially memorable compliments come from venerated violinist\, Prof. Shirley Givens from the Juilliard School of Music\, “..you are a very gifted violinist”\, Midori Goto\, “…you have wonderful ears and fingers” and Itzhak Perlman\, “….this kid’s got talent!”. \nRoyce says “the program that the community of Trail and the supporters of the Rossland Arts Council can expect is a classical recital program that will encompass excitement\, thrill and sheer virtuosity featuring show pieces and encore pieces that reflect what the violin is fully capable of demonstrating at the highest level. \nI’m really excited for Joseph to join me at the piano for our concert this December!” \nRich’s Accompanist\, Joseph Stacy\, is an American pianist based on the unceded territories of the Musqueam\, Squamish\, and Tsleil-watuth First Nations in what is now called Vancouver\, BC.  He was awarded the Faculty of Arts Graduate Fellowship to pursue his Master of Music in Piano Performance at the University of British Columbia\, graduating in 2021.  Prior to earning his master’s degree\, he graduated summa cum laude with his Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance/Pedagogy from Ohio University\, where he was also presented with the School of Music’s award for Undergraduate Achievement in Performance (2019). \n  \nAccomplished as a soloist\, collaborator\, and pedagogue\, Stacy’s career has taken him across the U.S.\, Canada\, and Austria.  \n  \nSummer Breeze \nhttps://youtu.be/W7pIyKvQQ5w?si=fpLnGpV_bjUt9lZi \n  \nPaganini’s Caprice No. 24 \nhttps://youtu.be/dhxHTneVnqA?feature=shared \n  \nTwo 45-minute acts with 20-minute intermission \nTickets available online at rosslandartscouncil.com\, or from Out of the Cellar at 2067 Columbia Avenue in Rossland.
