Tenise Marie is a Canadian singer-songwriter and performer based in Nelson, British Columbia.
Known for her luminous vocals, enchanting lyrics, and melodies that transcend what is expected, her songs bridge tradition and innovation, reflecting the confluence of her English, French and Assyrian roots.
Influenced by iconic artists like Joni Mitchell and Bob Dylan, her work is lyrically rich, emotionally resonant, and deeply personal, exploring themes of love, humanity, travel, and cultural identity while musically mixing folk, soul, jazz and West Asian inflections.
Her latest album Off The Record was released in July 2025 with support from Creative BC and the Province of British Columbia, marking a vulnerable journey of reclaiming heritage and identity, heavily inspired by her travels to Iraq’s Assyrian homeland, supported by the Canada Council for the Arts.
With glowing praise from outlets like Music Mecca and Buzz Music, Tenise’s performances are a powerful fusion of story and sound, disarming audiences with intoxicating musical landscapes and sobering confessional songwriting.
